Active Coffee Lover who found his work-life balance at Shape Games

March 29, 2023

If there was an opportunity to simultaneously code and bike, enjoying beautiful landscapes, Piotr would be the first in the world to try this out. “New is always better” is his approach to many work challenges and so he tries to always push himself a little bit more, studying new concepts and ideas to solve problems.

It would make sense if computer science was his lifetime dream, right? Apparently it wasn’t the case. As he describes it himself - he crossed out the things he doesn’t like and came up with joining IT in the end. “I don't like chemistry, so I could not study things where chemistry would be at their core. I always liked computers, but I'm not a gamer or something. I just liked to fix them. And by excluding things I didn't like, I ended up choosing IT.”

Shape Games Weekend
Always down for a company’s party as his first day with us coincided with the WWDC Apple keynote, hanging out at the office, playing video games and enjoying some summer beverages. Best memory from his time at Shape Games? “Definitely the Shape Games weekend.” In September 2022 we closed our office for 3 days and went to enjoy some work-free time together outside of Copenhagen. We had a hackathon in a beautiful countryside resort, where we came up with a ton of cool projects, many of which turned to be used on a daily basis now at the office. You can see a short summary of the weekend on instagram →.

Saturday morning
Even though he’s not an early bird, his favourite part of the day is morning coffee. He usually goes to the gym or biking after work. Sometimes he leaves Wrocław, where he lives and works from more regularly, to travel to some warmer country and be able to work remotely from there instead. Especially, to enjoy biking weather when it’s winter in Poland. As you can already tell by now, he’s very active and his dream holidays would be a surf camp in Morocco.

Coffee Lover
Speaking of coffee another big dream of his is to open a small coffee shop one day as he really enjoys making coffee. He says he spends way too much time and money on this hobby of his, but as long as he enjoys preparing coffee for his colleagues, we’re more than happy for him.

Events and colleagues from all around the world
He’s not the only one working remotely for us: we have contractors all over Europe, who come to our office every now and then. As we like to spend time together, doing some team building activities, it’s nice to have different events in order to do so and gather everyone around. To name a few, we spend time during the Summer Party every June, Christmas party every December and during Shape Games weekends.

Work-life balance
Piotr is one of many colleagues who joined Shape Games, looking for a truly international environment. That is also what prompts him to come visiting the headquarters in Copenhagen. Another of the many reasons to join us, was his pursuit for work-life balance, and he can tell you he found that too, here.

Do you also want to join Piotr’s team and experience work-life balance environment? Check out our openings here and don’t hesitate to apply.
